Qualified appraisal workflow

Establishing value for tax purposes

If you itemize and plan to claim a charitable deduction, gifts of real property over $5,000 generally require a qualified appraisal from an independent qualified appraiser. The appraisal establishes fair market value for your records and IRS Form 8283. We provide a written acknowledgment of your gift but do not set its value or perform appraisals. Always consult your tax advisor.

A bonus, not the point

There may be a tax benefit, too

If you itemize, donating real property to a 501(c)(3) may qualify for a charitable deduction based on fair market value. For gifts over $5,000, the IRS requires a qualified appraisal you obtain, reported on Form 8283. We provide a written acknowledgment of your gift but don't set its value or give tax advice. Always consult your own tax advisor. It's a real perk; it's just not why most of our donors give.

The land you forgot could be the help a child remembers.

It takes about a minute, costs you nothing, and gives a child something they desperately need.
